Beginning the Swiss Via Alpina in Sargans, which has a pleasant old high street with castle above.

Heading to the Klausenpass, our route taking us across the snow slopes above. They are not as tricky as they look! After the Klausenpass (which is the notch in the ridge, in the centre of this photo) the route is a rolling, smooth, descent. Long, but easy, and with less snow on the far (West) side of the ridge.
