The church in the centre of Chamonix. French tricolour flags hang from buildings. Behind, above, is le Brévent, a peak on the last stage of the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Glacier de Bionnassay above Les Houches.

Balcony path on the descent from Col de Tricot to Refuge de Miage, on the typical Stage 1 towards Les Contamines.

Crossing the Col des Fours on the TMB variant (harder than the main trail) from Ref. Bonhomme to Rif. Elisabetta.

Departing Courmayeur from La Societa des Guides de Courmayeur; here, a view of Courmayeur's high street and a walker striding ahead.

Mont Chetif above Courmayeur on the Mont de la Saxe variant to Rif Bonatti.

Views along the balcony path to Rifugio Bonatti, Italy. The TMB crosses easily from France into Italy, then from Italy into Switzerland, and lastly from Switzerland back into France.

Grand Col Ferret and the start of the descent into Switzerland from Italy.

A snowy descent from Grand Col Ferret early in the summer hiking season. These slopes on the Western side of the Grand Col Ferret are often among the later ones to clear as the TMB starts its July, each year. Alpine Exploratory advises in detail about this and other points, each June/July as we prepare for the season.

Lower down, the final approach to La Fouly.

Wooden buildings in the village of Praz de Fort, Swiss Alps.

Meadows and mountains on the trail from La Fouly to Champex.

Champex-Lac, simply one of the delightful spots on a Tour of Mont Blanc. At Champex, if taking a rest day (as some hikers do here) we have a lot of Switzerland reachable by transport, starting with a bus and train ride to Martigny.
Views towards the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland from Alp Bovine    Tour du Mont Blanc

A cow outside the Bovine hut.

Views from Col de la Forclaz on the way to Trient.

Trient church, distinctively pink, and the Trient Glacier.

On the approach to Tré le Champs and Argentière.

Hikers on the Balcon Sud trail above the Chamonix valley. (So-named because it's the balcony path that faces across the valley to the South.)

Sunrise over the Aiguille Verte and the Dru, famous peaks above the Chamonix valley.

The final ascent of the Tour to the top of the Brévent. It's downhill into Les Houches from here!
