Richard and Christine Walker trekked the Tour du Mont Blanc with us in July 2010, which was a month of exceptionally hot weather in the Alps. Richard and Christine's photos show the TMB from many aspects.

Christine and Richard on the Italian side

A flowery chalet in Val Montjoie

Les Contamines' church in the village centre

On the climb to Col du Bonhomme

The TMB treks through Val des Glaciers on the way to Col de la Seigne, visible here

French cows in the sun

Flowers in the Alps are a mass of colour in June, less so in July but still impressive

In a hanging valley, now in Italy, the hills rise to Col de la Seigne

Rifugio Elisabetta above

The Italian flag at the hut

Lac de Combal far below, with Mont Chetif the pointed peak in the middle distance

Another sunny morning breaks!

Down at the level of Lac de Combal

A marmot on the trail

Different light over the Mont Blanc massif

The TMB takes two scenic routes from Champex: here is the Bovine route

Trekking in the valley of Trient, Switzerland

An alternative path climbs steeply to Refuge les Grands, here on a well-engineered section

At Refuge les Grands

Completing the traverse to Col de Balme, Trient is visible in the valley

Now above the Chamonix valley, views are stupendous to the Mont Blanc massif...

... and are fringed by trees in the lower parts

Above Argentiere the TMB takes to ladders - avoidable by another route

Climbing further, the aim being Lac Blanc

The view across to the Mer de Glace, perhaps Chamonix's most famous glacier

At Lac Blanc with Mont Blanc behind

Here's an interesting bit of trail, on the final descent to Les Houches just before Bellachat

The Aiguille Verte, stunning with cloud building up to one side

Dropping to Les Houches with Mont Blanc du Tacul behind

Back in Chamonix after the best part of two weeks on trek. Very well done!
