Europe this Summer: What you need to know

Page last updated: 6 July 2020

As a British Company we are bound to the travel advice issued by the British government, and so we are delighted to say that as of 4 July we are able to run our trips in France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Norway and, of course, the UK. We are continuing to monitor the ongoing situation about further borders reopening, particularly to non-EU countries, and we will update this page accordingly.

Due to previous UK government guidance, we made the difficult decision to postpone all trips with departures up to and including 10 August 2020. If you were due to travel with us before 10 August 2020, you should now have received an email from us with details of the options available to you.

If you are booked onto a holiday with us departing after 10 August 2020, we will be running your trip as planned. We will be in touch 6-8 weeks before your departure date with all up-to-date information on your trip, and will let you know if any changes have been made to your booking. We will also be asking for your balance payment to be made at this time.

For all of our customers, it is important to double check the travel restrictions issued by your own government before travelling to your destination. For more information on current travel restrictions and likely changes to trips in 2020, please visit our Travel to Europe in 2020 information page.

Thank you for your patience and for all the support we’ve received so far - it is really appreciated!

Travel to Europe in 2020: All you need to know

New bookings for 2021 - Book now, Pay later

Dreaming about travel in 2021? Book today with total flexibility!

We are now taking bookings for 2021 with no deposit payment required on new holiday bookings until 30 September 2020.

We understand that for some people, travelling this summer will be the most ideal option, whereas others may prefer to have the peace of mind and reassurance of travelling at a later date.

That's why we are pleased to let you know that you can transfer your current booking to 2021 or 2022 free of charge. Please take your pick from the options below:

1. Reschedule your trip to new dates in 2021
We can transfer your booking and deposit to your new chosen dates within our 2021 season, at no additional cost to you. We will also fix your holiday costs at our 2020 prices as a 'thank you' from us for sticking with us! Get in contact if you'd like to reschedule your trip.

2. Reschedule your trip to any date in 2021 or 2022
In order to provide you with more flexibility, we can transform your deposit into holiday credit with us. This credit will be the equivalent of 100% of your money paid to date which you can put towards any of our holidays between 1 September 2020 and 16 September 2022. We will also fix your holiday costs at our 2020 prices as a 'thank you' from us for sticking with us and we will do this free of charge!

3. Transfer to a different trip in 2020
If you'd like to explore an alternative trip option (for example, a new holiday destination or a route with more hotels and less huts), we'd love to help facilitate this. Please let us know at least 6 weeks before your due departure date, and we'll let you know our recommendations.

4. Reschedule your UK trip to September or October 2020
We are also pleased to announce that we have now extended our UK season until 20 September 2020. Let us know your new dates and let us do the rest!

To reschedule your trip, please do get in touch with the team at info@alpineexploratory.com
