Bill and Judy Unwin and Colin and Liz Batchelor, from New Zealand, trekked the Coast to Coast in good style in June 2010. It was a month of mixed weather in England, but on the whole quite warm and sunny.

Bill on the first stage to Ennerdale Bridge.



Bill says: "This was Liz who had broken a bone in her right arm cycling in France the week before but did nothing about it in order to do the trip. We were among the the oldest people on the walk and having one of us with an arm in a sling was quite a talking point!"

The signpost shows the route over Nine Standards Rigg that applies to May-July. To lessen erosion, 3 routes are used each at different times of year.

The flatter terrain of the Vale of Mowbray, between the Dales and the North York Moors. This day's objective was Osmotherley on the edge of the North York Moors.



On the last stage to Robin Hood's Bay the sea comes into view a while before it's reached. This patch of low moorland is crossed on the way.
