Philip Newton joined us for the Pennine Way Central, our week-long stretch from Malham to Alston, with his team of John Todd, Kingsley and Yvonne Blease, and Howard and Hilary Biddle. It was a warm May 2010 giving some fine trekking. This central third of the Pennine Way offers the biggest concentration of sights including Malham Cove, High Force and High Cup.

Before the village of Dufton this huge ampitheatre called High Cup is reached. The surprise of this chasm takes the breath away after a long moorland crossing.
