Latest news January 2012
Please ask about our 2012 season which starts on 1 July. Thank you. For 2012 we are offering 5 scheduled guided trips as well as our private guided trips throughout the season.

Get to know one of Switzerland's most dramatic mountain regions - perhaps the most dramatic. South of the Rhone in the Valais region, a series of deep valleys run roughly parallel. In each valley's upper reaches are beautiful villages and pastoral scenes, framed by the high mountains of the Pennine Alps.

In the company of your group plus a qualified leader, you can relax and take in much of these stunning valleys. We take care of the planning.

This being a guided holiday, your leader is on hand throughout, there for your safety and to inspire and inform about these superb Swiss valleys. If you'd like to spend a day on your own walk or seeing the local sights, you're welcome to do so.

We book your accommodation in our mix of comfy hotels. As well as Zermatt being a fitting finale as a town, our hotel there rounds off the trip's accommodation on an especially enjoyable note. It's central, friendly and thinks of everything.

Why Alpine Exploratory for your guided trip?

Expert knowledge of the walks
The same careful research that goes into our self-guided Swiss Valais trips informs our guided trips too. Your leader might also have led our recce to the area. We keep on top of changes to the routes and we love keeping up to date with our hoteliers.

Flexible, personal planning
As per our general ethos, even on our scheduled guided trips we like to be flexible. Single rooms are no problem. If you'd like extra nights in Arolla or Zermatt, or different accommodation to the main group, please just ask us.

Small groups expertly led
Alpine Exploratory follows best practice in the mountains. Our leaders are all International Mountain Leaders and we keep to a maximum group size of 8 clients. The aim is a small, tightly knit group with an engaging leader, exploring the Swiss Valais with safety, proficiency and fun.

Options (for private trips)

If you join us as a private group instead of joining our scheduled trips, then we can adjust your Swiss Valais itinerary in various ways.

+ Add a mini trek for 2 or 3 days around Zinal
+ Shorten the trip to 4 or 5 days, or add rest days
+ Stay in Grimentz not Zinal, and La Sage not Arolla
+ Swap to auberges or up the comfort with our best hotels

Of course, on a private trip you can come on the dates that suit you. Except for the composition of the group and the dates, everything else is the same as on our scheduled Swiss Valais trips.

Happy clients

"Outstanding [scenery] - and the three locations offered an interesting variety.

"View of the Matterhorn from the hotel bedroom was a real bonus."
