From a range of routecards, choose each day a route of length and strenuousness to suit your mood. You might choose to climb a small hill for a view over the fells, or to walk along forest paths in Grizedale. Link up villages such as Hawkshead and Coniston with ever-changing scenery in between. Perhaps a walk along the whole length of a valley such as Great Langdale is in order.

This holiday's theme is one of gentle exploration. Hidden corners reveal themselves as you pass from village to village. Often it's the path itself that's the most pleasing thing - a clear route ahead into a small stand of trees, or a winding track between dry stone walls. Based in the bustling centre of Ambleside, there's time on hand to see the sights as well as the walks.
