Please contact us about a private group trip in winter 2011.

Winter's arrival transforms the Alps to an enchanting scene. Snowshoes let us explore off the beaten track, often over quite deep snow, finding views well away from the ski pistes.

This holiday is aimed at walkers who've tried snowshoeing before and are keen to do more, as well as snowshoeing novices with winter walking experience. We spend a week in and around the Chamonix valley, based in the village of Argentiere. For much of the time (weather permitting!) we have views of Mont Blanc. Walks are varied, taking in forests and small peaks, with the emphasis on more challenging walks and ascents.

Snowshoeing is easy to pick up. Your winter walking or skiing clothes are the basis of what you need, plus items to hire such as snowshoes, poles and a transceiver. Bring your normal walking boots. Your leader will help you to collect all you need.

As with skiing and walking, part of the fun is getting back to base for a warm and sociable evening. We offer two types of accommodation in the village: choose our friendly hotel or a luxurious chalet. Good eating and drinking abounds throughout the valley.
