Do you have friends, family or colleagues who would enjoy a holiday walking in the mountains? Alpine Exploratory caters for private groups who'd like to have their own trip instead of joining a larger trip. Your group can enjoy one of our standard walking holidays, at any time within our season for that particular holiday. You might prefer to go somewhere different, in which case please contact us to discuss your ideas.

Our standard guided walking holidays

Your group can book one of our scheduled guided trips exclusively for itself. Choose a departure date to suit you. We give set prices - and the more friends you bring along, the cheaper it is per person. Any special arrangements you'd like, such as extra days or a certain hotel, can of course be easily managed.

Special trips for groups

School, corporate, charity or just something a bit different?
If our standard guided trips aren't the sort of thing you're after, we can organise a special trip. It could be to the same region but in a different format, or it could be to somewhere totally new.

Numbers
Your group can be for any number of people. With larger groups we would advise on how best to split the party into manageable groups for the mountains. For school and youth groups we would normally price your trip to include free places for a certain number of teachers depending on the group's size, but this can be arranged to suit.

European trekking for school groups
Europe's mountains offer almost every type of mountain experience, from windswept moors to sparkling glaciers and from snowy forests to mountain huts. There is warmth and coldness available in every month of the year, if you know where to look.

School groups can spend a lot of time and effort raising the funds for trips to South America and Africa, when simpler trips within Europe might offer equal amounts of adventure at lower cost. Additionally, participants will learn know how to carry out a trip to a region that they can reach easily on their own future trips with friends.

Alpine Exploratory recommends that participants in group trips to the Alps already have some good experience of walking in the UK. This way, new experiences can be put into context. Hopefully the group will be more alert to the new country and crucially more likely to keep up their interest in trekking once the trip is over.

On trek we take pleasure in passing over environmental and mountain-related knowledge and we encourage all group members to join in with their own knowledge. We would offer to lead some short sessions during the walks to do with mountain weather, navigation, or the local flora and fauna.

Why go with Alpine Exploratory?

Adventurous approach
Our trips are designed to give your group the fullest flavour of the mountains and the local society. Following this theme, we pick the most exciting and atmospheric places to stay, often in mountain huts.

Quality of leadership
Alpine Exploratory's leaders are trekking enthusiasts who will hope to pass their enthusiasm on to you. It is our policy to use only qualified International Mountain Leaders (IMLs) in order to ensure your safety in the mountains.

People

Emphasis on good practice
We follow good mountaineering and environmental practices and we encourage group members to do the same. We hope that through leading not only by example but with explanation we can all go away having learnt a lot.

Showing groups they can do it themselves
The greatest achievement with a school or youth party could be to show the members that they can do similar trips themselves with their friends. There should be no mystery about it. We encourage group members to take on as much responsibility for themselves as they want, sharing in the navigation, buying food and organising local transport. For some groups this is all taken care of by Alpine Exploratory but for other groups helping out is part of the appeal and the lasting reward.

Flexible and simple planning
We adopt a simple and flexible approach to the planning stage - a stage that can be long and drawn out if not done carefully. As part of planning your trip, Alpine Exploratory can meet the trip organisers to discuss the timing, group composition, destination, accommodation, trekking route, activities and all other aspects of the trip.

Contact us

Please contact us at info@alpineexploratory.com. The more information you can give us about your plans the more accurately we can match our proposals, but of course we realise that many details are unknown until nearer the trip. For example:

+ Where you'd like to go - your ideal mountain region, or let us advise on a suitable area
+ What you'd like to do - perhaps trekking hut to hut, or hillwalking or snowshoeing from a base
+ Length of trip and whether you'd like to build rest days or sightseeing into your trek
+ Dates or the rough time of year
+ Numbers of participants including leaders. Would you like to split into smaller groups for the walking?
+ Any special requirements - transfers, baggage transfer, food, sightseeing add-ons...

We will give you a quote and our thoughts on how your trip could best be carried out. We look forward to hearing from you!
