Plentiful snow in the Alps

December saw snowfall in the Alps on a once-in-a-generation scale, giving a superb start to the season for skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers and other winter activists. For all concerned, the guarantee of snow down to village level has been welcome.
Here are a couple of pictures from our January explorations in the French regon of the Haute Maurienne, Savoie:
